Wo can participate in this conference?
Young Adults between the age 18-35 from all across Europe. Everyone including members or friends of members are invited to come and participate in this amazing opportunity to serve and get to know more people.
I don't have any experience working with people with special needs. Will there be training to help me?
Yes, the Special Olympics will train all the volunteers. The trainings will start next year and it will be through zoom. It's important to know that you won't be responsible for one specific individual, we will be there to help the Special Olympic to make the games to happen.
How many people do you expect to attend this event?
We have accommodation for 500 people over the course of the 10 days. Some people will share a spot since some will come for the first five days and some will come to the last five.
What languages will be used at the event?
You need to speak English or German to participate.
Will there be social activities as well as service opportunities?
Yes, We will serve during the morning and mid afternoon and at night we will have fun activities for the YA, for example dances, firesides, sports and so on.
What countries will people be coming from to help at this event?
They will have people coming from all around the world to come and serve as a volunteer for the Special Olympics. For the conference we are focusing on people from all over the Europe, but we already have some registrations from other countries.
What are the estimated costs to participate?
You need to pay for your way to and from Berlin. Accommodation, food and transportation during the conference will be provided.
How can I get the latest news about the event?
Check your email, the Special Olympic will be sending all the information and trainings that you need there, we will also send emails with updates, but you can also check the Website or follow us on Instagram for updates.
What clothes should I pack?
It will be summer, so please bring clothes that you won't be too hot in it during the day. The Special Olympic will provide you with shirts that you will need to use for the time you are volunteering. More information about the clothes for other activities will be updated once we are done planning it.
Is there a way to find out who else is attending the event?
Yes, we have on the website a page with a list of all the people that have registered and authorized us to put their names on the list.
Why do I need to register so early when the conference isn't until next year?
Because of the Special Olympics deadline. Special Olympics need to have a count of how many volunteers they have and in time to train them for the Olympics.
What are the housing arrangements like?
We Will have separated rooms for women and man and the married couples will be together. On the registration form has a question if you would like to share a room with a friend of the same Gender, that you can put their name there so we can try for you guys to be roommates.
Where will I be sleeping ?
You will be sleeping at a Hostel, the name is A&O Hostel Berlin Mitte.
